WHY AMS II

A Blue Ribbon school where every scholar is known.

At AMS II, math and science come alive through hands-on, minds-on learning. Scholars take AP and college-credit courses from 9th grade, travel for international science research, intern in the city, and build community projects as a team. Academic and social-emotional support are part of every day.

Our mission: IMPACT. We encourage students to Inquire with curiosity, Make Meaning through critical thinking, Problem-Solve through innovation, Act with Integrity, Collaborate to strengthen our community, and Thrive with Purpose, so every scholar is prepared to make a meaningful impact in college, career, life, and the world around them.

READY FOR WHAT COMES NEXT

College & Careers

From 9th grade, scholars plan and practice for life after high school.

In the classroom: AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Psychology, AP World History, AP US History, AP Human Geography, AP Government, and AP Spanish Language & Culture · College Now dual credit · college-level courses starting in 9th grade · Spanish and French through the New York State Seal of Biliteracy.

Beyond the classroom: Internships and partnerships with Albert Einstein School of Medicine, College Now, Reality Check, LADDS Internship Program, Boys Club NYC, NYC Park Rangers · college visits · SAT and Regents prep · Summer Bridge for all incoming students.

Support at every step: A grade-level support team (assistant principal, counselor, social worker, dean, and attendance coordinator) stays with your scholar from 9th through 12th. Co-taught classes, literacy support, and one-to-one and small-group tutoring. A full-time college counselor guides every application.

Where it lands: 100% of our scholars graduate. AMS II is a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School, one of only three New York City schools honored that year, and ranks among the top ten charter high schools in New York State.
